www.belindabuckleyonline.net 3 #Communication Temptations for #children

  1. Blow up a balloon then slowly deflate it. Hand the deflated balloon to your child, or hold it up to your mouth and look at them expectantly.
  2. Open a jar of bubbles, blow them, then hand the closed jar to your child.
  3. Roll a ball to your child three times. After they’ve returned it to you three times, immediately roll a different toy to them.

Nice ideas to try if your child needs a little help to learn how to make requests.

UK #Coronavirus rules relaxed for people with #autism and learning #disabilities

People with autism or learning disabilities can leave the house for exercise more than once a day and can travel outside their local area, the government has said.

This will be a relief for many families. Getting outdoors is important for everybody, but especially for some people with autism, who may need the exercise and change of environment to support emotional regulation.

www.belindabuckleyonline.net #Onlinespeechtherapy update

What a great week of #teletherapy at Children’s Speech and Language Therapy Ltd! The free video-link therapy sessions were popular, with more booked in for next week.

All families who tried the taster sessions have opted for intervention packages, including for a 7-year old girl with Developmental Language Disorder, a boy with social communication needs and a boy with an articulation difficulty.

The sessions are fun and it’s nice where possible for the children to take control of the screen and practise their expressive language by giving me instructions!

Happy Easter everyone. Have lot of fun conversations this weekend and let’s all #stayhome.

Helpful @Childline_Official video to help #children and #youngpeople understand and manage #anxiety – #autism #communication

Many children and young people, especially those with #autism, will be experiencing heightened anxiety from all the changes affecting them at the moment. It can help to watch this video to encourage talking about what’s making them feel anxious.

You can try scheduling relaxing activities. Connect with nature if possible.

And focus on the positives.
