After more than thirty years as a speech and language therapist, I have now moved into a new career as a garden designer.

This website remains available as a resource for parents, carers and professionals seeking information on children’s speech, language and communication development and the difficulties that can affect it.

My book, Children’s Communication Skills from Birth to Five (Routledge 2003) explains the developmental stages of early language and communication skills, together with many of the factors that can influence them.

Mission

We can change children’s lives by helping them become effective communicators and developing their confidence to express themselves to their maximum potential. This happens best when professionals, parents and carers work together towards the same goals.

I knew Belinda as a student SLT and it is unsurprising to me that she has gone on to write a book. Her book is easy to read, comprehensive and a must for SLT students or similar and practising SLTs and language teachers alike. For those who are longer in the tooth practising SLTs don’t dismiss this book as it is an excellent reference for those who just want to give themselves a quick reminder of what language skills emerge when.
