Belinda is a state registered speech and language therapist and a member of the Health and Care Professions Council (H.C.P.C.). Her service adheres to the ethical and professional standards specified by the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (R.C.S.L.T.) R.C.S.L.T. is the professional body for speech and language therapists in the UK. Members are responsible for maintaining high standards in clinical practice. The initials RegM.R.C.S.L.T. show that a therapist is a registered member and has been awarded a licence to practise, following the successful completion of an accredited degree course. Registered speech and language therapists are committed to maintaining their competence and expertise through continuing education and professional development.

Summary of qualifications & experience

Since graduating in 1996 with a first class BSc Honours degree in Speech Sciences from University College London, Belinda has gained clinical experience in a range of health and education settings. She has a special interest in working with children with autistic spectrum conditions and in developmental speech and language disorders. She has also worked with children who have learning difficulties (including Down’s syndrome and Fragile X syndrome), hearing and visual impairments, epilepsy, developmental language disorder, selective mutism, oral and verbal dyspraxia and sensory integration difficulties. Belinda continues to engage in a wide range of post-graduate training courses enabling her to keep abreast of recent developments in clinical practice and theory.

In addition to setting up and delivering domiciliary, clinic-based and nursery / school speech and language therapy services, Belinda has also planned, coordinated and implemented a new service to support families in partnership with statutory and voluntary agencies. She has been involved in promoting communication skills development through public health initiatives.

Belinda plans and runs workshops and training events on key issues related to the development of communication skills and developmental communication difficulties. Participants include parents, teachers and students.
